Membership Committee
Description/Purpose/Plan

This committee is responsible for the recruitment, application, and training process for Care Council members. They are also responsible for the nomination and election process of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for the Care Council.

Committee Purpose (bylaw excerpt): Responsible for understanding the membership process; ensuring that the Care Council adheres to strict legislative membership requirements; ensuring membership application and selection process is effective and administered appropriately; advises governing body in membership issues; works with staff in ensuring appropriate member recruitment, training and orientation, including retreats. A subcommittee of Membership is responsible for review and scoring of all membership applications. This committee is also responsible for the nomination and election process of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.

Comprehensive Plan, Goal 4: Ensure that a continuum of HIV-related psycho-social and support services is available throughout the TSA.

Objective 4(C): Encourage an environment that supports volunteerism and advocacy.

Objective 4 (D): Improve education on the role of the Care Council and its committees on an on-going basis.

  • Review Care Council bylaws
  • Place ads in local papers
  • Send letters/fliers to Ryan White providers and other community based organizations of PLWH
  • Send letters to members with term expiring 08/31/06
  • Select scoring sub-committee
  • Conduct interviews with all applicants
  • Submission of written applications
  • Review and scoring of applications
  • Select members based on scores
  • Approval of slate by Care Council
  • Letter to new members (on selection and orientation)
  • Letter to Grantee for appointment
  • Official seating of new members
