What is our mission?

The mission of the West Central Florida Ryan White Care Council is to manage a high quality, cost-effective, easily accessible, culturally responsive, and comprehensive continuum of care that improves the lives of all individuals living with and impacted by HIV.

What does the Care Council do?

The Council carefully determines the needs of the HIV community in eight counties (Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk) by conducting a needs assessment (a series of studies including client and provider surveys and focus groups). With the information gathered through the needs assessment, and the input of community members that participate in committee meetings, town halls and other community events, the Council decides how much Ryan White funding goes to each HIV service. The Care Council does not directly provide services, it plans and evaluates them.

Who are the members?

The members of the Ryan White Care Council come from very diverse backgrounds, some are People Living with HIV/AIDS (PWH), some are community service providers (such as health care providers, case management, mental health, and housing), while others are family or friends of PWH.
